Did you know that the original meaning of the word ‘COMPASSION‘ means ‘co-suffer‘ with one another.
It originated from the latin word ‘COMPATI‘ which means ‘suffer with’.
It later became ‘COMPASSIO‘ in old French and Middle English became ‘Compassion’. “Compassion is the response to the suffering of others that motivates a desire to help”.
Compassion is not pity.
While pity is response without action to help the person suffering, compassion is the pity that acts.
I say COMPASSION is PITY IN ACTION.
Compassion is Pity with a hand.
