Altar Call and Christianity

ALTAR CALL AND CHRISTIANITYAn altar call is an activity carried out within the Christian circle and it usually signifies a statement of allegiance towards a cause, which in this case is following Christ.

It’s basic requirements include;

  1. a) choosing to forsake their old thought pattern and old ways
  2. b) choosing to allow Jesus Christ into one’s life and heart to help change their mindset and redirect their course
  3. c) publicly declaring allegiance to the Kingship and Kingdom of God (although it isn’t always a public declaration for everyone. as some people decide it is a one-on-one decision between themselves and God)

However, thinking about the concept for some time, I believe the process has to be upgraded for clarity of purpose.

I believe before an altar call is made, I believe it should be properly explained to be a call to service, a call to become a worker in the vineyard of God, a call to contribute to taking spirit-led steps that will restore the world back to the original state the Creator intended it.

I believe the overall purpose of Christianity for Christians is to manifest the Kingdom of God in their spheres of influence.

I believe Christians will be better Christians if they were fully aware of the responsibilities that come with accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour if they were taught that it is a call to be a soldier of Christ warring against the wiles and the mindsets of the Kingdom of darkness

It shouldn’t just be a call to a better life and the saving of the Soul.

Truth is, many human beings do not even believe they have a Soul, some others do not even care what happens after they die.

So an altar call that is made just after telling people their soul needs saving is just one-quarter of the actual reason why a person should make up their mind on embracing Christ.

An altar call is like a contract. When people append their signatures on the contract documents, they do so knowing the full detail of what they are embarking on.

It is also like an employment letter for a new employee, such a person needs to know their full job description before accepting the job.

I strongly believe Christians will be better if they were fully aware of the responsibilities that come with accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour if they were taught that it is a call to be a soldier of Christ warring against the wiles and the mindsets of the Kingdom of darkness

When you accepted the call, whether altar call, living room call, heart call, phone call; did you answer knowing the full details or just some details?
